Riu Palace Aruba Beach Update

Riu Palace Aruba Beach Update…
I’m in Aruba this week and have a new beach update.

The Beach Staff is removing everything from under the Palapas at 5:30am. If you put anything under a Palapa and are not there early in the morning it will be removed.

At 10 am they remove everything again from Palapas that have stuff under them and have not been occupied.

Silver Moon Hotel & Casino-Payment Info Change

Just a quick update.  The Riu has changed the name our charge payments are processed under.  It is no longer AHE Holding..  It has gone back to Silver Moon Hotel & Casino.

Thanks to all who noticed this on their charge statements.  They did not inform us in advance.

With Great Sadness…

Aruba is a little less sparkly today. With great sadness, Marlene Maduro Suescuns Wever lost her ten year battle with cancer this morning.

She leaves behind beautiful memories and an amazing family. She was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the out.

We hope Karina, Madelyn and all of the family will find peace and comfort in knowing her pain and suffering have come to an end. Keep the wonderful memories of your mom in your hearts forever.

Thanks to all who contributed to the fund for Karina’s and Madelyn’s mom. Because of your generosity the family will have funds to pay for outstanding medical expenses, a lovely funeral and all miscellaneous expenses.  Loosing a loved one is never easy but taking the financial burden away provides peace of mind for the entire family.  Thanks so much for your overwhelming kindness and generosity.

Karina’s mom has been battling cancer for 10 years.  The cancer is now in her bones.  In the last two years she has lost her strength and her job and most recently her fight.  Marlene Maduro Suescuns Wever is 63 years old.  She has 6 children who all work hard and help their parents.

The doctors have stopped treatment because of her weakness.  She has lost so much weight and can barely walk.  Her family has rallied around her in an effort to keep her strong.  She was walking with a walker, eating and talking until last week.

On Friday she had a severe stroke.  The ambulance did not transport her to the hospital.  Instead they informed the family she would need to wait for the doctor.  The doctors are saying there is not much hope.  The hospital will not take her because she is considered a terminal cancer patient.  There is no medical assistance for Karina’s mom or her family.

The doctors have told the family she must rest.  They have given her medication drops that keep her sleeping.  The family is scared because they know she may not wake up.  She can no longer eat or drink.  They help her sit up when possible to keep her comfortable.  There is no in home or private nursing facility available in Aruba.

Let’s all help Karina, her family and most of all her beautiful mom Marlene Maduro Suescuns Wever.  All funds raised will go to Karina and her family to provide the best medical care possible during these difficult

Outstanding Condo, perfect location

This condo is exactly what you see in the online pictures. Very modern unit, large for 2 couples. and everything you need to enjoy your vacation. The french doors open to a waterfall pool on the left and also one that is situated steps away from the unit. This was a nice seating area in the morning to enjoy a cup of coffee. As well, their is a covered bbq area with an outdoor dining table. The water is drinkable out of the tap and the unit also supplied ice so that we were able to cool our beer on our trips to the beach. With that the condo also supplied a nice sized beverage cooler and lawn chairs so that we were able to take to the beach. The beach is one of the nicest beaches i have seen in the caribbean. Eagle beach is a 10 minute walk from the condo. The beach is a long span of white fine sand with turquoise warm waters. I can say the only downfall of Eagle beach is the wind but without the wind you would most likely cook to death so settle for the wind! The condo is situated in a very secure area however Aruba itself is very safe. We took many walks at night and did not feel a bit unsafe. The area is full of shopping and restaurants. The choices are endless:) If your up to arubian food, try the heshi yeni and the awesome johnney cakes and of course the island breads. We rented a car so were able to scoot around the island to enjoy the capitol of Oranjested, Arushi beach, Baby beach, Mengel Halto beach. and Palm beach area. A half a block from the condo is a greek/Italian restaurant , Zuzuroh. A must to go and try this restaurant. Westdeck is also a must to dine, tons of live entertainment here and also around the area to enjoy. Nice grocery store to stock up for your vacation, a one stop shop to get all you need, good selection of wine, beer and liquor. Did some snorkelling at baby beach and Mengal Halto, some fish, its ok but not great but still fun to be in the water. All in all, we will be back, great island, nice friendly people and the most stunning beaches all at your finger tips as the island is so small ….all I can say is one happy island! Thanks for the wonderful stay, it was enjoyed by all!

Riu Update

Hopefully you have replied to the request for address, phone and email changes if anything has changed since last year or if you did not receive your Invoice last year.  The updates are complete for this year.  If you missed the request and have a change, please email me.

Happy Almost Summer,

Reminder 1st & 2nd Floor Units

Just a quick reminder to all 1st & 2nd Floor owners-please take a couple of minutes upon check in to check the window locks in your unit.  This is a reminder from another owner who just spent three nights with his windows unlocked. It took a call to maintenance to get the lock fixed. As we all know safety is important today-even in Aruba.

A few beachfront units have had items stolen from the patios recently.  Please do not leave anything outside.  Most likely they will gone when you wake up.

January Update

Happy January to all!  Many of you have emailed to say you are no longer receiving emails from me/Blog.  Glad so many noticed.  I no long post individual ads for rental or sales.  There are so many rentals these days, I can hardly keep up with the Master List.  Please keep in mind rental policies:

All renters need a rental agreement with the Rules & Regulations.

Karina needs a Member Guest Form for every renter.

Karina does not need the Rental Agreement-just the Member Guest Form.

Please reply to inquiries quickly.  If you don’t, they email me.

Please notify me as soon as your unit is rented.

If I email you to confirm your rental is still available and you do not reply, I will not be able to list future rentals for you.

Not much new news to report.  Everything seems to be going well in Timeshare!

New Aruba ED Program/Embarkation & Disembarkation Online

Aruba has a new Embarkation and Disembarkation Program.  Prior to Aruba travel you can now fill out your documents online.  Thanks to one of our Members for sharing this info:

Aruba’s Online Embarkation & Disembarkation Program

Aruba is ready and waiting to extend its warmest greetings in welcoming you to the island and on your way to an unforgettable vacation experience. In the effort to facilitate your travel to Aruba, the Aruban Immigration Authority in collaboration with the Aruba Tourism Authority offer the first “bon bini” in the form of Aruba’s online Embarkation and Disembarkation (ED) program.

This program offers you the opportunity to fill out the ED-card online as a convenient ahead-of-time alternative to the existing ED-card that is handed out on board all flights to Aruba. Just like the existing ED-card, the application of the online ED-card is free of charge.

Exotic Seaside Retreat Homearama 2012 Norfolk VA

Thanks to everyone who asked me to share pictures of the Seaside Homes Exotic Seaside Retreat in Norfolk VA.  Our local Builders Association sponsors a home show every fall which showcases homes in one neighborhood and is open to the public for 16 days.  This year it returned to the neighborhood we build in for the 3rd time so as the grand finale to our show home days, we took on building a Bayfront Home. In the 30 year history of Homearama there has never been a Bayfront Home in Homearama. Our home sits on 120′ of bayfront right on the Chesapeake Bay.  We won 16 of the 18 awards with 13 being Gold.

For those of you who want to see pictures and the video, I am attaching the link to our website, articles and pictures.  The video is on the awards page.  Thanks to all who have asked to see the house.

House 10, the $1.695 million Exotic Seaside Retreat built by Seaside Homes, has many breathtaking features, but its crafty outdoor room created by landscape architect Jane Cantin really caught my imagination. The hard-scaped space, which borders an East Beach common area, offers an intriguing combination of privacy and breath-taking views. Furnished as a dining area for Homearama, it’s like a secret garden bordered with high evergreen hedges where you can retreat for privacy, but you can paradoxically see everything that’s going on around you. – Lia Russell, correspondent
